Choosing the right deal for you

The options for a car lease are numerous, so it’s important to look at all the possible options before you sign anything. The mileage and the length of the term is one of the factors that can affect how much your monthly repayments will be. Will you be using your car to travel a few miles to work every day, or will you regularly be crossing the country? It is important to estimate how far you’ll be travelling every day to avoid excess mileage charges. Over time the reasons for the need of a car will undoubtedly change, and therefore so can the expected mileage. If this changes drastically it is worth contacting the finance company to explain your change in circumstances to see whether you can get a reduced deal.

Definitely looking to lease? We’ve got a few useful tips for you

  • Make sure you shop around for the best possible deal
  • Like anything you’re buying you should know as much about it as possible before you take the plunge. Take all models of car you’re thinking of leasing for a test drive to make sure it is suited to your needs
  • Don’t stretch yourself unnecessarily. A flash car for £30 a month more seems like nothing but it can really add up on a deal of two years or more
  • Try to think ahead as much as possible. Some aspects of a car might not seem necessary now but you might need them midway through the lease

If you can’t afford to buy a car outright, or afford a large deposit for finance, leasing may be the perfect option for you. As they are long term contracts it is important to think about your lease properly and carefully choose the mileage, car model and length of contract.

*Typically an initial rental equivalent to 3 regular monthly rentals is required. Larger initial payments can be made if required, which will lower the regular monthly rentals.
